What Happened to Student After 41-days Fasting and Prayer in Abakaliki

A Senior Secondary School one student of Ishieke Secondary School, Abakaliki,  Ikechukwu Oke, has seriously become sick and hospitalised after an alleged 41 days and nights of dry fasting and prayer in his Ishieke house.

A source told us that the 'prayer warrior' was an Izzi man, but other sources later confirmed him, to be an indigene of Ebiaji in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

Christian Nwaokpa, a student of the university, who claimed to know Oke, said that he decided to embark on such such a herculean supposedly spiritual exercise, as a result of challenges and afflictions currently confronting his family, in  order to enable him attract God’s intervention.

“He hails from Ebiaji in Ezza North LGA. This is his nature after his 41 days and nights of dry fasting and prayer in his house. He is a student of Ishieke Secondary school and lives in Ishieke with his parents. He was formally reported to be an Izzi guy”.

“As it stands now, men of goodwill and ambassadors are on the way conveying him to Accident and Emergency Ward in Federal Teaching Hospital, AE-FETHA in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State. We wish him quick response to treatment and God’s intervention for the actual cause of his suicidal mission termed fasting and prayers," Nwaokpa said.

Man Convicts 7-Yrs For Pouring Acid On Lawyer In Ebonyi

BY MBAM EJIKE, ABAKALIKI High Court sitting in Abakaliki on weekend convicted Mr. Njoku Shedrack who poured acid/corrosive substance on Chukwunonso Caleb Onwe Esq, a member of Abakaliki Branch of NBA and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine. In delivering the judgment in Charge No. HAB/151C/2020- State v. Njoku Shedrack, the court presided over by Hon. Justice I.P Chima held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that it was the defendant who poured acid on the lawyer on 1/10/2019 without any justification and accordingly convicted him for the offence of Assault Occasioning harm. Reacting to the judgment, the Prosecution counsel J.U Chukwu, Assistant Chief State Counsel thanked the court for doing justice in the matter. Similarly, the defendant' s counsel Odiegwu Ibekwe, Esq.thanked the court for delivering a well considered judgment stating that courts should always ensure that justice is done in all circumstances.
