Catholic Priest Calls for Sustainable Peace in Ebonyi Communities

As the entire globe marks its universal peace day on Sunday 22 September,2019 the Catholic Priest of St. Johnpaul 11 Ugwuachara, Abakaliki surburb and Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN, Ebonyi State Chapter, Very Rev.Fr. Dr. Abraham Nwali called stakeholders from various communities recently faced by communal crisis before the state government intervention to keep supporting the peace effort of Umahi led administration as no nation develop in the atmosphere of war and racour.
The priest who also the Senior Special Assistant to Ebonyi State governor on Religious and Welfare Matters, Chairman, Christian Pilgrimage Welfare Board and Judicial Vicar of Catholic Diocese Abakaliki described peace as panacea to societal development, stressing that body of Christ represents peace which was made manifest during his ressurection with the first message of "peace be unto you" and should be embraced by those who fear him.
According to him"When you talk about peace, you see that it is only God that's a greatest achiever which life after his ressurection he said,let peace be unto you and he went further to say as my father goes on so I do.
"I leave you with gift of peace, shalom. There's intrisic call and desire for Peace because everyone on Earth deserves peace because peace is a divine gift of all and we have to make sure we work towards the sustenance of it especially in rift society.
The priest who served as Chairman Peace Committee in various intra communal crisis in the state highlited the important role played by Ebonyi 8th Assembly who through their advance legislation and understanding with the state governor reestablished peace between Ezza-Ezzillo community which birthed Izzo and Ezzillo communities.
He commended stakeholders of Enyibuchiri and Enyigba Community of Abakaliki Local Government Area and Ikwo respectively for their support in bringing peace among the two sisters clan and seeks for their sincere support so that the peace effort would be sustained.
The peace Committee Chairman used the medium to call Abakpa Market Traders to embrace the peace effort made by the Christian body which their relationship with the state government manifested to the establishment of Ecumenical Centre.
When asked about the peace committee plan to relay their secret to the Federal government so as to help Nigeria curb the security challenges facing the nation,the priest noted that they have recommended to the governor to set up a delineation committee whose role would be to interface dialogue between two dispute communities through which proper delineation would be made using diplomatic approach whenever needs arose.
