Breaking:Ezza/Ikwo Federal Constituency: Tribunal Declared Ogah Winner

National Assembly tribunal sitting in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State on Tuesday 10th September,2019 declared the All Progressive Congress,(APC), candidate Comrade Chinedu Ogah Winner of February 23rd, 2019 general elections and nullified Hon.Lazarus Ogbe, member House of Representative Ikwo/Ezza federal Constituency, of People Democratic Party.

Addressing newsmen shortly after the declaration, Comrade Ogah described his victory at the tribunal as an evidence that judiciary remains the hope for a common man.

He stated that though the state governor was of People Democratic Party but did not interfere in the court judgement which was a sign of advancement of democracy in the state.

Comrade Ogah while commending the judiciary for their objective and respect for the rule of law, as well,as his supporters who stood by him amidst trial assured them of better representation.

He called the ousted lawmaker not to panic as he would accommodate him, stressing that going to appeal court to challenge the verdict would be a waste of resource as he was optimistic that his victory was divinely ochestrated .

Comrade Ogah, however, pointed out that it is a responsibility of anybody occupying such prestigious post to provide jobs to the teaming jobless graduates which would be the first thing he would do by networking the green chamber to attract dividend of democracy to his area.

He, said that empowerment of youth and women would form his priority as era when Abakaliki man was known as wheel barrow Pusher was over as he would ensure that the strength and wisdom was channeled into entrepreneurship, whereas, called for their unrelenting support.

One of the ardent supporter, Comrade Ogochukwu Elem, appreciated the judiciary for proving critics wrong and maintained that they remained "voice for the voiceless"

He commended supporters for their faithfulness and sincere support for Comrade Ogah , adding that the victory was not for the Comrade alone but to all those who fought for the enthronement of Justice in Ikwo/Ezza North constituency and advised for more support to enable Ogah return the constituency lost glory.

On his part, Hon.Nwali Onyebuchi, All Progressive Congress, Ikwo LGA 
Described the victory as an evidence to prove that judiciary has remained their battered image and advised Comrade Ogah to maintain his uncommon character of carrying everybody along, even as he encourages Hon.Ogbeh to give the opponent his support to ensure the constituency moves forward.

Man Convicts 7-Yrs For Pouring Acid On Lawyer In Ebonyi

BY MBAM EJIKE, ABAKALIKI High Court sitting in Abakaliki on weekend convicted Mr. Njoku Shedrack who poured acid/corrosive substance on Chukwunonso Caleb Onwe Esq, a member of Abakaliki Branch of NBA and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine. In delivering the judgment in Charge No. HAB/151C/2020- State v. Njoku Shedrack, the court presided over by Hon. Justice I.P Chima held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that it was the defendant who poured acid on the lawyer on 1/10/2019 without any justification and accordingly convicted him for the offence of Assault Occasioning harm. Reacting to the judgment, the Prosecution counsel J.U Chukwu, Assistant Chief State Counsel thanked the court for doing justice in the matter. Similarly, the defendant' s counsel Odiegwu Ibekwe, Esq.thanked the court for delivering a well considered judgment stating that courts should always ensure that justice is done in all circumstances.
