In an annual event to celebrate her patron saint, St. Michael Catholic Parish Mbeke Ishieke on Sunday 29 September,2019 joined the universal church to mark the feast of St. Michael's Day 2019 with gratitude to God for the gifts of the new parish and the parish priest Rev. Fr. Livinus Nwekee.
The homilist, Rev. Fr. John described Ingratitude as the worst character exhibited by man, noting that the event was mapped out to thank God for the accomplishment of new parish in Mbeke Ishieke and to thank the parishioners for their unrelenting support.
The priest citing the story of ten lepers which Jesus Christ healed but only one of them returned back to thank God,as such received double healing thanking them for their sincere contributions.
He frowned at some political Officer holders who allegedly using their position to cause division and crises in their various communities urging them to desist from such but geared the effort in attracting development to their respective area.
The priest emphasized that those who do that hide under the umbrella of party indiference to perpetuate the act, stressing that nothing is wrong with politicians been in diverse political party,hence, they all pursing similar objective of a better society.
Speaking on the message of the day, the sensitivity of God versus the indifferences of man, the priest acknowledge that God has been merciful to man and deserves all the glory and for using the priest as an instrument to raise befitting altar for him.
He called Nigeria leaders to periodically engage in self examination as examplified by Jesus Christ which his Disciples gave different testimonies, pointing out that using town hall meeting to do would help them to access their impact while in office on the lives of those who voted them into power while in office, thereby, be able to retrace their steps and not relying on sycophants who engage in vain praise for self gain.
The vice chairman, parish council Apostle Benjamin Obaji eulogized the Diocesan Bishop for sending the priest when the parish mostly needed a servant who truly want to leave a legacy and that's testifable with his ability to raise an altar within his few years in the new parish.
He commended the parishioners for their unrelenting support especially the representatives of Fr. Echiegu's Foundation, Ogbo-Ohubama Izzi and Izzi Forum Chairman, His Royal Highness,Eze Sunday Oketa for honouring the event and pray for their journey mercy as they go home.
The chairman of the occasion,Barr. Nwode thanked the invited guests, the parish priest and Rev.Fr John Chukwu for laying the foundation of the church which his seed has made manifest as a gigantic place of worship, calling them for keep propagating the gospel of Christ Jesus in the area and beyond.
One of the parishioners, and former State Minister for Power and Steel, Chief Goddy Ogbaga thanked Bishop Okoro for fatherly love for the parish and entire members of the church and those who contributed in various ways to raise the church praying that God would replenish their pockets and Grant them more favour.
The highlight of the day were choir competition presentation, music presentation, and other activities that added colour to the event.
Meanwhile, those emerged winners in choir competition are,Zone 1,first position,zone 4 second and zone 2 emerged 3rd, whereas, lay readers we're also rewarded for outstanding performances.
