Ebonyi:IPAC Suspends Indefinitely Vice Chairman

Inter Party Advisory Council Ebonyi State Chapter on Thursday 17th October, 2019 Suspends indefinitely its Vice Chairman, and self acclaimed acting State Chairman, Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu on alleged gross misconduct and violation of the body code of conduct.

In a communique made available to us and signed by over thirty leaders of political parties, the council during their meeting held at IPAC secratariat in Abakaliki resolved to indefinitely suspends the vice chairman following a motion raised by Hon. Nchita Samuel Akahite, Chairman of Action Democratic party (ADP) as was seconded by Barr. Oko-ewa Enyim, State Chairman Nigeria People Conscience (NPC) party.

It reads "Following the outcome of the meeting of the Ebonyi State Chao, Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) the council came up with resolutions after considering the motion brought to the house by Hon. Nchita Samuel Akahite, Chairman of Action Democratic party (ADP) calling for the indefinite suspension of Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu, the vice chairman of the council and also the state chairman of Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) for Gross Misconduct and was seconded by Barr. Oko-ewa Enyim, State Chairman Nigeria People Conscience (NPC) party.


"Therefore, members unanimously approved the motion with the resolutions reached as Follows:

"1. That Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu has been inaugurating illegal executive members and parading himself as the Acting Chairman of Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Ebonyi State Chapter while the council has a substantive Chairman by name Comrade Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor, State Chairman KOWA Party and duly elected by the members of the council according to the council's code of conduct.

"2. That Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu has illegally been holding meetings in hotels, beer parlours, and in his home in the name of IPAC which is in breach of code of conduct.

"3. That he has been conducting press conferences through prints and electronic media without the approval or authorization of the IPAC elected Chairman, Comrade Mrs. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor.

"4. That Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu criminally attempted to freeze the Union Bank of Africa (U.B.A) account of Ebonyi State Chapter IPAC, an attempt to loot the money there in.

" 5. That Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu stands suspended today 17th day of October,2019 by members if Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) Ebonyi State Chapter in consideration of the following points raised here. His indefinite suspension continues until a recommendation by the disciplinary committee.

"6. That based on aferomentioned reasons and actions of Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu, Inter Party Advisory Council of Ebonyi State under the leadership of Comrade Mrs. Jennifer O. Adibe-Nwafor Suspends Hon. Lazarus Nwachukwu indefinitely.

Man Convicts 7-Yrs For Pouring Acid On Lawyer In Ebonyi

BY MBAM EJIKE, ABAKALIKI High Court sitting in Abakaliki on weekend convicted Mr. Njoku Shedrack who poured acid/corrosive substance on Chukwunonso Caleb Onwe Esq, a member of Abakaliki Branch of NBA and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine. In delivering the judgment in Charge No. HAB/151C/2020- State v. Njoku Shedrack, the court presided over by Hon. Justice I.P Chima held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that it was the defendant who poured acid on the lawyer on 1/10/2019 without any justification and accordingly convicted him for the offence of Assault Occasioning harm. Reacting to the judgment, the Prosecution counsel J.U Chukwu, Assistant Chief State Counsel thanked the court for doing justice in the matter. Similarly, the defendant' s counsel Odiegwu Ibekwe, Esq.thanked the court for delivering a well considered judgment stating that courts should always ensure that justice is done in all circumstances.
