The Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Internal Security and Utility, Ebonyi North,Hon. Ben Nwovu yesterday warned against public smoking of Indian hemp otherwise known as marijuana, as arrested defaulters would be made to face law of the land.
He stated this in Abakaliki while addressing members of Association of Izzi Media Workers, noting that public smoking of Indian hemp which is becoming a common attitude among youths has since attracted his office attention which he said, has mapped out template and vowed to arrest and persecute those who abuse drugs of all types.
Hon. Nwovu who doubled as President Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, advised youths to engage in reasonable ventures as the introduction of whistleblower tactics by the state governor, as a way to rid the state completely of cult activity was a welcome development which would help them make the state uncondusive for every forms of crime.
Hon. Nwovu emphasized that sagging, public smoking of Indian hemp and other form of social vices would be completely eradicated in the state, cautioning those who are cultist to renounce their membership or be ready to face the wrath of the law if arrested.
He, however, commended the state governor, Engr. David Umahi for his intervention in reintergrating the people of Agagbaja and Inyimagu Unupfu who through his magnaminity gave succor to those who government of the past administration dislodged from their homes, describing the action as good omen.
Also Speaking the union Secretary,Comrade Okeokpa Raymond Nweke, lauded the state Governor for engaging Ebonyi youths in political appointiment, stressing that such move would help the young state to groom leaders that would help pilot the affairs of the state in the nearest future.
The National President Izzi Media Workers Association and a staff Radio Nigeria,Sir Sunday Nwambam, appreciated Hon. Nwovu for his leadership ingenuity and assured him of their unalloyed support.
