Put God First to Attract His Blessings--Priest Charges Royal Stars

 It was all about thanksgivings and praises at St. Mathew Catholic Church Ugwuachara Abakaliki surburb when members of the prestigious Royal Stars Club celebrates Holy mass to mark her 10th years anniversary of it's existence.

 The homilist, Rev. Fr. James Nwofoke, drawing his message from the book of Luke 17:11-19, the priest admonished worshippers to imbibe the spirit of thanksgiving and praises to what God has done and still doing in their individual lives since their birth.

 Reverend Father Nwofoke who is the spiritual Director of Royal Star Club charged members always put God first in all their affairs in order to attract God blessings, expressing satisfaction that in 10th years of the existence of the group they have produced many graduates and successful business men, wishing them more years ahead in the fear of God.

 However, Royal Star Club of Izzi, a Coorporate organization was established by 2009 set from St. Thomas Acquinas Secondary school Nwofe by the extraction of 2009 set has distinguished self from other corporate organizations and has produced Medical Doctors, Barristers, Journalists and other practicing professionals.

 Addressing her members after the church service, the president of the club Comrade Mbam Joel urged them to be more united than before in order to achieve their major objective as clearly stated in slogan, "sky is our stepping stone".

 Comrade Mbam stated that his administration would focus in the area of Agro-business to boast food availability in the state and generate income to the organization.

 Also Speaking, the Chairman of the day  and former president of the club, Dr. Alieze Ezekiel Advised members to show gratitude to God always for his protection adding that without the mercy of God, there would be no progress and unity among union members.

 He further encouraged other corporate organizations to propagate unity, peace and love for God as they preach life of sincerity among youths for societal development.

 In his remark the immediate past president Comrade Nkwuda Peter said there was reasons to appreciate God for the members progress oneness and further Advocated for unity in all their affairs, even as, he called members to join hands in fight against kindred dictonomy for it promotes crisis and hatred among members clan.

 He appealed to stakeholders of Izzi clan especially those who use it as political instrument to gaining pity when they see themselves loosing election to desist from the promotion of the syndrome which According to him has done more harm than good in the land.

Man Convicts 7-Yrs For Pouring Acid On Lawyer In Ebonyi

BY MBAM EJIKE, ABAKALIKI High Court sitting in Abakaliki on weekend convicted Mr. Njoku Shedrack who poured acid/corrosive substance on Chukwunonso Caleb Onwe Esq, a member of Abakaliki Branch of NBA and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine. In delivering the judgment in Charge No. HAB/151C/2020- State v. Njoku Shedrack, the court presided over by Hon. Justice I.P Chima held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that it was the defendant who poured acid on the lawyer on 1/10/2019 without any justification and accordingly convicted him for the offence of Assault Occasioning harm. Reacting to the judgment, the Prosecution counsel J.U Chukwu, Assistant Chief State Counsel thanked the court for doing justice in the matter. Similarly, the defendant' s counsel Odiegwu Ibekwe, Esq.thanked the court for delivering a well considered judgment stating that courts should always ensure that justice is done in all circumstances.
