Ebonyi State Government Flags off 2019 Distribution of Mosquito Net

THE Ebonyi State Government today flagged off the distribution of one Million, Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand pieces of long lasting treated insecticide net in the State.
Governor David Umahi said the net became necessary as it is the most cost effective way of malaria elimination.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Kenneth Igwe Ugballa, Umahi reiterated his administration's commitments to the health and well-being of the State assuring of "regular provision of drugs and healthcare facilities to the people,
"The net is for everyone, especially pregnant women and children", he said.
Earlier, the country director of United States of America for International Development, USAID, Ms Katie Dorhonor, pledged her organisation's commitment with Ebonyi State Government, describing it as strategic.
The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Akuma Umezurike stressed the need for beneficiaries of the need to ensure its usage, decrying the " collect and keep" attitude of most beneficiaries.
Dr Umezurike said plasmodium falciparum and plasmodium vivax can be prevented through the mosquito net.
The event witnessed the crowning of Chief Mrs Rachel Umahi, the First Lady of Ebonyi State who was represented by Chief Mrs Patience Offor Okorie as net ambassador.
The event was attended by some commisioners, Barrister Uchenna Orji, Dr Daniel Umezurike, Barrister Clement Ofoke, Chief of Staff, some members of the State's Executive Council, Hon. Francis Nwaze, Hon. Chinyere Ogbaga and others
