Ebonyi: Opposition Honours PDP Governor

Inter-Party Advisory Council, IPAC, Ebonyi State Chapter led by Hon.Jennifer O. Adibe-Nwafor has honoured the state Governor Engr. David Umahi for his outstanding performances and good governance.

The award ceremony which took place at Industrial Training Center Abakaliki, saw The Ebonyi State Police Public Relation Officer ASP Loveth Odah, as one of the honorary and many others for their contributions to the peace and development as presently witnessing in the state.

Speaking the state Chairman,Hon. Adibe-Nwafor, noted that the award was part of the group programme as they Commission their new secratariat and had hosted political party flags.

According to her"Today we commissioned the IPAC secratariat, when I came as Chairman, I see that the place was dilapidated I feel it is good to renovate the secratariat and I was able to electrify the place and Fix some facilities and I also hosted the political party flags. We also feel it is good to honour those who contributed so well to the good governance of the present administration and His Excellency is one of the awardees, IPAC has awarded him the grandmaster of good governance as you can see the good work he is doing in the state which his achievements Speak volume above his predecessors. IPAC also honoured  so many other distinguished Ebonyians for their tremendous support. 

The State Chairman, however Advised members to continue with the peace pace already existing in the state and to elect those who will not deviate from the present policies and progress of the group in their forthcoming election.

The State Chairman Alliance for Democracy, AD, Mrs. Udenwigwe Nomeh Florence, described the occasion as a due programme to encourage good governance in the state as opposition party leaders, noting that irrespective of the fact that they are not the ruling part, the state governor has proven that he was called to serve and deserved to be supported to move the state to the dream place.

She urged the fellow political party leaders to queue behind the group state chairman, Hon. Adibe-Nwafor , even as they support the policies and programmes of Umahi led administration.

One of the awardees, Hon. Clement Omekannaya Odah, Chairman, Ohaukwu Local Government Area, commended IPAC for their unrelenting support to the state government and for founding him worthy of the award.

Others honoured are Hon. Mark Onu (Choppers), Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor on Youth Mobilization, Ebonyi State Commission for Police, Awosola Awotinde, Chief Elekwachi Akpa, Special Assistant to the Governor on Government House Matter among others.

Man Convicts 7-Yrs For Pouring Acid On Lawyer In Ebonyi

BY MBAM EJIKE, ABAKALIKI High Court sitting in Abakaliki on weekend convicted Mr. Njoku Shedrack who poured acid/corrosive substance on Chukwunonso Caleb Onwe Esq, a member of Abakaliki Branch of NBA and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine. In delivering the judgment in Charge No. HAB/151C/2020- State v. Njoku Shedrack, the court presided over by Hon. Justice I.P Chima held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that it was the defendant who poured acid on the lawyer on 1/10/2019 without any justification and accordingly convicted him for the offence of Assault Occasioning harm. Reacting to the judgment, the Prosecution counsel J.U Chukwu, Assistant Chief State Counsel thanked the court for doing justice in the matter. Similarly, the defendant' s counsel Odiegwu Ibekwe, Esq.thanked the court for delivering a well considered judgment stating that courts should always ensure that justice is done in all circumstances.
