Over 50 Cultists Have Renounced Their Membership Says Ezza South Chairman



--Chairman Bans Late Night Activities

In effort to build a society where sanity thrived, the Chairman of Ezza south Local Government Area, Hon. Sunday Ogodo, yesterday said not less than 50 Members of different cult groups including Aiye fraternity have renounced their membership and embrace Christ.

Hon. Ogodo made the pronouncement while addressing newsmen in his Onueke Office, the council headquarters, noting that to sustain and culture those who embraced the new life have provided vehicles that take them to the church every Sunday and other activities as a way to inculcate in them a right attitude in fear of the Lord.

He stressed that the council area after faced with serious life threat with incessant killings placed cult activities on ban and insitituted vigilante group that works with other security outfits that brought the entire place to normalcy.

The local government Council Chairman, revealed that every night activities beyond 10:00 pm has also been banned as a step to ward off unnecessary attack which is commonly known to had taken place in the past.

He appreciated the effort of the traditional rulers and stakeholders from the area who have given their support and cautioned against anybody or group engaging with suspected cultists in destabilizing the already achieved peace in the place as such would attract severe penalty.

Hon. Ogodo, however, thanked our reporter for their unrelenting spirit in monitoring his Government policies and encouraged him to remain steadfast, as well, advised men of the fourth estate of the realm to shun brown envelope journalism.
