Insecurity: Ebonyi Community Inaugurates 670 Men Of Vigilante Group

In a way to compliment the effort of Ebonyi state government to security of lives and property, the Area Command in charge of metropolitan,Fasesan Ibrahim on Wednesday,29th December,2021 inaugurated six hundred and seventy men of vigilante group at Igbeagu Autonomous Community, Izzi LGA, Ebonyi state.

This is coming shortly after the traditional ruler Igbeagu Autonomous Community, His Royal Highness,Eze Michael Ogbonna Ukwa coronated the Area Command as "Agu Ji Egbe 1 of Izzi" in his palace, at Ndidoko Igbeagu. Addressing members of the Council, the traditional ruler appreciated the security personnel for honouring the invitation and described the event as a memorable day in the community. "Today will ever remain a memorable day in Igbeagu Autonomous Community when a crime burster, the Area Command in charge of metropolitan will be honoured in my palace for his contribution in security of lives and property in our area. "The Governor of the state in few days ago inaugurated men of South East Ebubeagu security outfit, Ebonyi state command which is commendable. "Inorder to compliment His Excellency in fight against crime and abuse of drugs especially India Hemp, and the recent methamphetamine chlorine popularly known as Mkprummiri, we have selected ten persons from each villages out of the sixty seven villages in my community that will be inaugurated today as men of vigilante group.

"We are here to inform you that today announces the end to cow rustling because cow rustlers have dealt with many villagers, abuse of drugs in the community be you a seller or buyer in any junctions should be put to a stop, I wept when I visited Ishieke community recently and saw four good looking young boys who are said to had taken this Mkprummiri and were misbehaving with one of the mothers threatening to commit suicide instead of being alive seeing her son in such pitiable state. "I am Ezeudo and here have coronated Agu Ji Egbe who guides Ezeudo with Ebubeagu securing all of us, and that's to tell you that if we work together will bring peace and stability in Ebonyi state and Nigeria generally. "So, I plead with all the security personnels who are here to know that you are already part of my community and your contributions would ender you reward of double promotion knowing that Agu Ji Egbe was not the first police officer posted in the state but honoured today because of his good work. "Also, parents and the newly inaugurated men of vigilante group should endeavour to be ethical and report every suspected move and case of drugs abuse to the security so as to nip it at the bud.

In his remarks, the newly coronated police officer who is the metropolitan Area Command, Fasesan Ibrahim, applauded members of the Eze-in-council, the youths and entire community for founding him worthy of honour. He charged the vigilante group to be law abiding and added that members of the group would be profiled for easy identification. "We will profile you people by having your list with your identifications as to know who to call whenever an incident happen at a particular area. He, however, called them to work with the traditional ruler, even as they be of good character and never to abuse human rights as enshrined in the constitution of the country. Corroborating the Metropolitan Area Command, the Deputy Police Officer, "B" Division CSP Ibrahim Imam assured the people of continuous support to building synergy with the community. CSP Imam revealed to the newly inaugurated men of vigilante group to know that those who lived by crime would see them as enemies, as such, should hence maintain their integrity and self respect. He encouraged them to shun any act capable of demeaning their names, hence, avoid engaging in crime related affairs as they are now public image. "Make sure you are not a vigilante member and you are the one smoking or selling India Hemp; make sure you are not a vigilante member and still connive with those commiting crime. " I want you to know from today that you have taken an oath with God not to think about the past by saying I have given power and should revenge those who had offended me in the past. Earlier, the Chief Superintendent of Police Iboko division,Dr. Nwenyim Livinus described the metropolitan Area Command as a crime burster and assured the people of continuous support until peace is fully restored in the area. In their separate remarks, the secretary Eze-in-council Igbeagu Autonomous Community, Chief Francis Okeh and his secretary, Chief Daniel Nwoba appealed to the state and Federal governments through the National Boundary Commission to hasten the effort in marking a clear boundary demarcation in the warring area between Igbeagu Autonomous Community and Ukelle, Yala LGA of Cross River state as to save the people from their ugly plights. Others who barred their minds including the Chairman Igbeagu Improvement Union (IIU) Home Based, Bro Emmanuel Nwovu and Zonal Leader Ipfe Igwe zone of Igbeagu Autonomous Community pledged their support to the traditional ruler for the superlative initiative charging other communities to emulate the monarch. The event was honoured by Deputy Police Officers across the urban and men of Nigeria Police Force, youth leader and village heads of the various villages among others.
