Bishop Umoren Weds Professor Ogbaga

--Egwu,Femi Adesina,Ucha,Others Felicitate With Family BY NWOGHA NDUBUISI,Abuja Auxiliary Bishop Abuja Diocese, His Lordship, Bishop Anslem Umoren on Saturday 20th November,2021 united in holy matrimony, professor Chuks Collins and Ernestina Ogechi Ogbaga at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish Maitama, Abuja.
In his homily, the auxiliary Bishop admonished the newly wedded couple to appreciate that marriage was made for life companionship and procreation,hence,should show accommodation and love each other as they love themselves. Corroborating the bishop, the Special Assistant to the president on Media, Femi Adesina, charged the new couple, professor Chuks Collins and Ogechi Ernestina Ogbaga to remain ambassador of their new home. Speaking, the chairman of the occasion, Senator Julius Ucha who advised them to settle issues amicably and avoid introducing third parties to family disagreements. Dignitaries were in their large numbers including the Governor of Ebonyi State represented by his deputy, Barr Kelechi Igwe. Other among former Governor of Ebonyi state, Senator Sam Egwu,Minister of Power ,Minister of Science and Technology, Mr Ogbonnaya Onu,Chairman Revenue Mobilization and Fiscal Commission, Engr Elias Mbam,former Speaker House of Representative, Mrs Patricia Ette,former Leader House of Representative, Rt Hon Mulikat Adeola Akande,many former Senators, House of Reps members,former Hon Ministers,Ambassadors, Commissioners,business mogul,party Chieftains,academia among others. The event was a colourful outing with carnival of all sorts including display of cultural troops.

Man Convicts 7-Yrs For Pouring Acid On Lawyer In Ebonyi

BY MBAM EJIKE, ABAKALIKI High Court sitting in Abakaliki on weekend convicted Mr. Njoku Shedrack who poured acid/corrosive substance on Chukwunonso Caleb Onwe Esq, a member of Abakaliki Branch of NBA and sentenced him to 7 years imprisonment without an option of fine. In delivering the judgment in Charge No. HAB/151C/2020- State v. Njoku Shedrack, the court presided over by Hon. Justice I.P Chima held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that it was the defendant who poured acid on the lawyer on 1/10/2019 without any justification and accordingly convicted him for the offence of Assault Occasioning harm. Reacting to the judgment, the Prosecution counsel J.U Chukwu, Assistant Chief State Counsel thanked the court for doing justice in the matter. Similarly, the defendant' s counsel Odiegwu Ibekwe, Esq.thanked the court for delivering a well considered judgment stating that courts should always ensure that justice is done in all circumstances.
